چکیده

Abstract Purpose To evaluate the influence of hydrofluoric acid (HF) contamination on microtensile bond strength (μTBS) during dental repair procedures before and after application different dentin adhesives (Optibond FL Optibond XTR). Materials methods Thirty-five human molars were ground down into randomly divided seven groups (G1-G7; n = 5), G1 G2 being control groups. Only in test (G3-G7) samples subjected to HF (9,5%) contamination. Two adhesive systems, (G1, G3, G4, G6) XTR (G2, G5, G7) used. In G3-G5 was applied contamination, G6 G7 treated with a single After composite build-up, stored water (7 d) μTBS determined. Data evaluated using Wilcoxon (p  Results Control group showed significantly higher than G1. The HF-contamination did not result significant reduction μTBS. OptiBond (G5, (G3, following same procedure. Conclusions or layer does impair strength, if is subsequently re-applied.

Self-etching Adhesive Systems in Operative Dentistry: A Literature Review

The establishment of a reliable bonding has been known as one of the major challenges in adhesive dentistry although important improvements in adhesive systems have been made in the last 30 years. The goals of using these bonding agents are to provide micromechanical retention of the restoration, enhance the bonding strength between the resin and the tooth structure, reduce the microleakage acr...

Improved Resin–Zirconia Bonding by Room Temperature Hydrofluoric Acid Etching

This in vitro study was conducted to evaluate the shear bond strength of "non-self-adhesive" resin to dental zirconia etched with hydrofluoric acid (HF) at room temperature and to compare it to that of air-abraded zirconia. Sintered zirconia plates were air-abraded (control) or etched with 10%, 20%, or 30% HF for either 5 or 30 min. After cleaning, the surfaces were characterized using various ...

Effect of hydrofluoric acid etching on shear bond strength of an indirect resin composite to an adhesive cement.

This study evaluated the effect of 1% hydrofluoric acid (HF) treatment on the bonding of an adhesive cement (Panavia F 2.0) to an indirect resin composite (Estenia C&B). Pairs of composite disks (10 and 8 mm in diameter by 3 mm thickness) were prepared. Adhesive surfaces were pretreated with either airborne particle abrasion or HF etching before being soaked for 30 seconds, five minutes or 10 m...
